Privacy Policy
Last updated: 12 July 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Knobcloud ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses, shares and protects your personal data when you use our website and marketplace services. It also explains your choices and rights under applicable data protection laws.
1. Important information and who we are
Data Controller: Knobcloud
Registered address: Germershausen 1, 35096 Weimar, Germany
Email: info@knobcloud.com
By using our services, you agree to our Terms of Use.
2. The data we collect about you
We collect and process the following categories of personal data:
- Account and contact data (e.g. name, username, email address, country, billing or delivery details if provided).
- Marketplace activity (offers you publish, messages you send, items you buy or sell, timestamps).
- Transaction data (amounts, currency, payment method metadata and references to PayPal transactions).
- Technical and usage data (IP address, device and browser information, operating system, time zone, cookie identifiers, page views and interactions).
- Digital fingerprint: for marketplace safety, we generate and store a pseudonymous device/browser fingerprint derived from technical signals (for example, user‑agent, screen and browser characteristics, and other similar parameters) together with your IP address. We use this to detect and prevent duplicate accounts and fraud, in line with our Terms of Use which prohibit multiple accounts.
- Communications with us (support requests, feedback).
We also create aggregated or anonymised statistics for security and performance. These do not identify you.
3. How your data is collected
- Directly from you when you register, publish an offer, send messages, make a purchase, or contact support.
- Automatically via cookies and similar technologies when you browse our site. See our Cookies Policy for details.
- From third parties such as PayPal (for payment confirmations and account identifiers) and analytics/advertising providers (e.g., Google Analytics/AdSense).
4. How we use your personal data
We use your data only where permitted by law, including to:
- Provide and operate the marketplace, including account management, messaging, listings, and order processing (performance of a contract).
- Keep the marketplace safe, detect and prevent abuse (including duplicate accounts), spam, and fraud using IP address and digital fingerprint data (our legitimate interests and to enforce our Terms of Use).
- Resolve disputes and provide customer support, including assisting users to enforce PayPal Buyer Protection where applicable (performance of a contract and legitimate interests).
- Comply with legal obligations, including tax, accounting, and law‑enforcement requests.
- Improve our services and run analytics (legitimate interests). Where required, we will ask for your consent.
- Send service updates and, where you have opted in, marketing communications. You can opt out at any time.
5. Disclosures of your personal data
We share personal data with trusted service providers acting on our instructions, such as: payment processors (e.g., PayPal), hosting and infrastructure, email delivery, analytics/advertising, and customer support tools. These providers are bound by contracts that require appropriate security and prohibit their own use of your data. We may also share data where required by law or to protect users’ rights, or in connection with a business reorganisation.
6. International transfers
Where we transfer data outside your country (for example to service providers), we use recognised safeguards as required by applicable law.
7. Data security
We implement technical and organisational measures to protect your data against unauthorised access, accidental loss, and misuse. Passwords are stored using one‑way hashing. Access to personal data is limited to personnel with a need to know.
8. Data retention
We keep personal data only as long as necessary for the purposes described above or as required by law. Specific rules:
- Account deletion without interactions: if you never interacted on the marketplace (no messages, purchases, or sales), your profile and associated personal data are deleted immediately when you confirm deletion.
- Account deletion after interactions: if you interacted on the marketplace (e.g., sent messages, bought or sold an item), your profile is disabled and retained for 180 days from your last interaction timestamp. This retention period is necessary to protect all users and to allow enforcement of PayPal Buyer Protection, which lasts 180 days. After this period, the account and personal data are permanently deleted.
- Security data: IP addresses and digital fingerprints used for fraud prevention are retained during the same 180‑day period after account deletion where interactions exist, or deleted immediately if there were none, unless a longer period is required to investigate fraud or comply with legal obligations.
- Legal/tax records: transaction records may be retained for the periods required by applicable law.
9. Your rights
Depending on your location, you have the right to request access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, and to object to certain processing (including where based on legitimate interests). You also have the right to withdraw consent where processing relies on consent. You can make a complaint to your supervisory authority, but we invite you to contact us first so we can address your concerns.
10. Cookies
We use cookies and similar technologies to run the site and understand usage. For details and choices, please see our Cookies Policy.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version here and, if changes are material, notify you via the website or by email.
